□ The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family (MOGEF/Minister Lee Jung-ok) is holding the 1st training session for the development of the vocational capabilities of women from Monday, October 21 to Friday, November 1, 2019.
ㅇ The trainees are 17 public officials and experts in the private sector specializing in issues related to women and employment from nine developing countries in Asia . The contents of the training will include a field trip to the Saeil Center for Vocational Training for Women, which is setting an example for the Korean-type development of women’s vocational capabilities, and classroom lectures.

ㅇ The trainees also include those from Vietnam, Laos, and Indonesia who are taking part in the 2019 ASEAN-ROK Commemorative Summit due to be held in Busan on November 25, which is expected to be the largest summit of its kind ever held.
* During the summit, in which the ROK and ten ASEAN countries will participate, the 30-year relationship between the ROK and each of the ASEAN countries will be re-evaluated, the new vision for the relationship will be presented, and the path to a new, more harmonious relationship will be established.
□ The trainees are scheduled to visit the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul, share the results of policy case studies related to exemplary startups led by women, and develop their capabilities to devise polices for the development of women’s vocational capabilities suited to their respective home countries.
ㅇ The training session includes a visit to exemplary sites where the goal of specialized regional development is being attained, including the Saeil Center for Vocational Training for Women in Wanju, in consideration of the fact that agriculture is the main industry of the trainees’ home countries.
ㅇ Experts from the World Bank and the UNDP will also attend the session to discuss how to improve the situation concerning women’s human rights and enhance economic strength in troubled or vulnerable areas from the international perspective.
□ First held in 2010, the session is run twice a year for trainees invited by the MOGEF and is designed to help the women of developing countries enhance their socio-economic status by sharing the country’s policy for the development of women’s vocational capabilities with them.
ㅇ A total of 369 trainees from 51 Asian countries had attended the annual session as of 2018. The training session consists of classroom lectures on the policy for the development of vocational capabilities, field trips, and a session for designing programs related to the said policy.
